I have never been one to spend $ on appearance, but I kinda want to get a set of wheels. that's where my knowledge ends.

Im looking for something black and chrome.
I am not wanting to spend 2k$. if good wheels cant be had for that, tell me
I am not wanting something that's gonna crack, or come apart at 85mph
I spend time at the drag strip
I spend time pulling sleds
I pull trailers.
I want to stay with 16" wheels.

Can someone give me some good brands of wheels so I can look?

also explain the whole offset deal. Is it just for looks or does it improve anything ?

I've had good experiences with kmc xd wheels. I do think that 18" would be way better than 16's. With more and more trucks comin with 18's+ factory the tires prices are comin down but toyos are always gonna be high. 18x9 with a 0mm offset is somethin like i would look at. They won't stick out too far, just a good all around size imo

I agree with 18s

With a leaf spring truck I'd opt for the 10" wheel, they still dont stick out "too" far but at the same time the fit a tire well.

Heres a suggestion or two..

offset being how far from the fender they stick out ? I don't want to go all " stance wets her pants" just want something to look decent , and I don't want them to rub, I run 285/75s now and they rub a bit when I steer all the way to one side.

LOL. well this thread started out well..

It did... unitl 16" wheels were mentioned LOL:slap:

I lieterally lol'd when I read down the list and got to that

18's is at least a start, otherwise might as well just stick with stock wheels and spend the money else where, even 18's are borderline not worth it. 20's and up.

My 18" pro comp wheels were $1,000 for the set and if I remember right 35x12.5r18 toyo mt's were $1400 mounted balanced all that. Wheels lasted me a little over 5 years with my crappy up keep and new england winters before they started to show some pitting.

I guess I just had assumed that tires were ridiculous price wise over 16 inch. . I remember looking at tire prices for a set of 16.5s I have on my highboy. sold those wheels almost immediately. can any of you post a pic of your truck with 18s? I am not incredibly well at visualizing what it will look like

Same here, last set of stock continentals 275/75r18 my dad bought for his truck were $12xx out the door after all the internet price matching he did, now they highway tread will last longer, but the initial purchase is pretty close.

Here is mine, 18x9 wheel 5"backspacing, 35x12.5 and 4" lift

Both setups are with a add-a-leaf in the front, no rubbing.

Negative offset is how much it sticks out past centerline. Positive sucks it in to center. A 16x10 -24 is 5" + 1" out. 4.5" back space. And 16x10 +24 is 5" +1" closer to center of truck. 4" back space
