Hey yall looking at buying a 7.3, 6.0 or a cummins for when I move back to WA. Wanting a 6speed. Are parts for zf6 are like dodge NV'S or can you actually buy parts for them since ZF hasn't gone out of business or Rumer has it they still make them just ford doesn't offer it. In a toss between zf6 or g56 and I really want the zf6 for factory cooling pump and they seem pretty fing strong from what I hear. I don't plan on any power above 500 if that helps. Thanks yall appreciate it. I have Google both but just haven't found a solid answer on parts avaliable for zf6. Where as g56 it's still offer so new parts are avaliable.

Yeah, there's plenty of parts available for them.
I've pulled heavy with a zf6 and a g56.
Can't really say which I liked better. Different engine powerbands. But I would say the zf6 had slightly better gearing. The g56 would drop a little too much on up shifts.

Which ever truck I go with I'll be mainly stock I'll do exhaust and intake maybe a mild tune as I hear the g56 is decent for those applications but once you add power it becomes hit or miss for the case flex or the 4th gear popping. But coming from marine world almost everything that rotates is cooled somehow so I really like how the zf 6 is cooled by a pump. I know you can buy external coolers that add a quart or two but haven't really found a straight forward install aftermarket pump that is equal to that of the zf6. But thanks for the reply. It makes me feel good that if I go powerstroke I can find parts pretty good for it so thank you!

I don't read a lot about ZF6 failures. They do happen. But not a lot. I've seen countless threads about G56 issues/failures. There's an aftermarket company that makes a large metal shroud to stiffen the case, which is where most of that transmissions issues seem to be.

Mainly the zf6 failures I hear are just high mileage related or freak accidents. Obviously it pays to play scenarios as well. I hear company's who make shields or braces work pretty good but again the oil cooling features of the zf6 is impressive. I know the 7.3 and 6.0 are outdated with today's modern diesels but I really don't like dodge trucks and don't want to do exhaust emission ******s that require a tuner. By time I spend money on a fummins I could have a pretty stout 7.3/6.0 manual combo. Time we'll tell. Yall be the first to know when I get back behind my own diesel besides company truck diesels with over 400k ( all 7.3s)
