Can somebody tell me the size of the nut on the sector shaft of the steering gear? I think I used a 34mm socket when I installed the steering gear but it was not a perfect fit. I think its coming loose and I want to get a big open end wrench to tighten it:doh:.

Pitman shaft you mean?
Sector shaft is the one the steering column bolts to.

it shouldn't come loose.. it should have a bigass lockwasher on it.. unless you didn't get it down on the shaft good to begin with.. just rattle it on with an impact

Sector shaft is what I was told it was called several years ago when it broke in half. Here is a diagram showing the part I am talking about. This diagram is for a gear for a F150 but the steering it is similar.
