Shaved tailgates

I bought a handle relocate kit. I think it was a godfather custom unit. Handle didn't stay in place very well, but it worked well enough.

Tbe kit I bought had a precut/shaped piece that I welded in.

Those of you that also shaved the tailgate line how hard was it to do? and how did you do it? I'm gonna be shaving the emblems on mine and i'm debating doing the handle and bodyline too

I probably went overboard, but I welded in a rod the length of it. Ground it smooth and filled it smooth. Had to do that at the top of the gate for the cap too.

I think when Johnny did mine he partially welded it and used fiberglass body filler.

alright, thank you both, I think i'll do what was done to dzlpwr's tailgate if I do it, I'm not too sure on how it'd look on a lifted truck

Looks like the kit I got. IIRC you use all the stock hardware. Only thing you may need is 4 screws to mount the relocation bracket. fwiw, I just welded mine in

It comes with self tapping screws, but welding works better.
