Shift flair

I have gone back over my tune several times and don't see an issue with my tuning but I am getting a flair shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. It only does it the first shift after sitting a little while. For example, if I go to the gym at work out for 1 1/2 hrs and drive off and give around half throttle or more it will flair. After that it will shift great with no issues. Any ideas? I thought I read about an actuator issue but can't seem to find any info on it.
BTW it is a 12' with 38k and trans is fine. I have owned it since new

im not sure if the TSB for the 11s carried over to some 12s. A lot of guys got their valve bodies replaced for this issue.

I have this issue on my 2012 as well... Occasionally, it'll flair the 2-3 BAD after a hot soak. It's not a tune-specific issue, as it's done it with several different transmission tunes. I've been debating replacing the shift solenoids or just having a new valve body put in, but it's so intermittent that I haven't been able to replicate it for a tech. Does anyone know if you can replace the valve body, and have ONLY the valve body strategy changed? I don't want to have to re-load my TCM tune.

Valve body is easy to change and you don't have to program it.

I think you're mistaken... For the 6R140, the valve body is actually called the "main control". Each main control has a specific "solenoid strategy". That strategy must be programmed via IDS when either the main control or transmission assembly is replaced.

What I'm unsure of is whether or not Ford's computer (IDS) will attempt to update the TCM calibration when you input a new solenoid strategy. If you can change the solenoid strategy ONLY, we should be safe, but if not, that's a different story.

I really don't want to deal with consequences of a stock tune getting loaded over my custom files, so I've been dealing with my shift flair for now. If there's a way to change the solenoid strategy without updating the PCM or TCM, I might order a new main control (valve body, solenoids, etc.) and give it a try.

Same here... 9 days out of 10, I don't care, but I get a little nervous about things when we're 200 miles from home with two horses in the trailer.

Could you just return the truck to stock file, change the valve body reflash the TCM with the new valvebody strategy then reflash the truck with the custom tune?

That's what I'm wondering. I just had the latest flash done on my truck to address the dying issue with bad egt sensors so i would think I could just swap out the parts
