Any ideas where this is coming from? Noticed it today when I was changing the oil. Front drivers side...
Thanks in advance

Probably upper pan or front cover... Done plenty of both on these motors

Upper pan would be the front portion of the oil pan right? If so, mine is leaking. How hard of a job is it to replace the gasket?Probably upper pan or front cover... Done plenty of both on these motors

Yeah. They are pain in the asses. Gotta pull the trans, and then there really isn't a gasket, its silicone for the most part, which makes it real fun sliding the pan back onto place.Upper pan would be the front portion of the oil pan right? I wanna say its around 20 hours or so, probably around 2-300 in partsI’ve had the lower pan done once before, but I still have to clean it off every oil change. May be the upper. That leak seems too far forward to me to be the pan.
What’s the front cover running, not sure if I still have warranty or not.
Nope, thankfully from my end, tsbs typically **** the tech on labor... And its not safety or emissions related, so it wont be a recall. There’s no TSB or anything on this? Seems like it’s a little too common to not be addressed by Ford.
Whats ****ed up is the early trucks with the plastic lower pan had a gasket for the upper pan. When they went to the metal lower pan, they switched to mostly silicone. I havent seen a truck with a gasketed upper pan leak yet.Same here. Im im no position to have that done.. i wish they had a normal gasket and not gray/black death sh!t... make a normal white mans job a lil easier..

Was sorta wondering that tooCould you get an earlier pan and gasket?

Not sure on that. Never tried, and only had 1 earlier one off due to they smashed the lower pan on a rock and crushed the pickup tube. I dont remember if all the ports are in the same spot or not. And if id hazard a guess, if they do interchange, the original is probably updated to the new one.Could you get an earlier pan and gasket?
