luckily i have a week before i need to drive down to florida. unexpected expense, but at least i was prepared. i had a feeling it was going to be soon just not right now. glad it didnt happen a few hundred miles from home though and really toast...real bad, rough startups, 5 mpg drop and no giddyup and go anymore. just dont want to ruin injectors or get stranded.

so, which one should i buy?
swamps?
bpd?
vivians?
ficm repair?
someone else?

48v or 58v?

need to buy today or tomorrow so i can get it here before i leave.

the BPD 6 phase is the only real "upgraded unit" IMHO

second I would go with the 4 phase

the rest u are waiting your yours to be resoldered maybe have the voltage tweaked maybe programmed with a tune and returned

s0 in a nutshell if time is your enemy go with the BPD new units unless you live close to one of the FICM repair places

Or looking at your sig fix yours yourself?

and get the BPD when funds arrive if $ is an issue

can I ask if you verified voltage wise that it is a FICM issue ?

even with an electronics backround there is always the chance of making a mistake and damaging it further, especially while in hurry. thats why i wanted to buy one then ill take a look at my old one, fix it, and keep it as a backup for me and my dad (his is stock, bound to happen eventually). if i had no time constraint i wouldnt hesitate to just take it to my shop and go at it. i just dont want to have to reschedule my leave.

And with the BPD unit, you can select 48,53, or 58 volt output on the same unit, correct? (phase 6 unit)

Correct. It comes as a 48v FICM, and there are two wires you have the option of cutting. Cutting one of the wires makes it a 53v FICM, and cutting the other wire (not in addition to the first, instead of) makes it a 58v FICM. If you cut both wires, you have a 48v FICM but lose the redundant circuits.

The BPD 4ph and 6ph units are the only truly upgraded units.

Nothing on the power supply is stock its completely reengineered.

After that I would go with FICMrepair.com

Its a stock unit with upgraded components

I didn't hear that u lost the redundancy u don't when u cut 1 of the two when u choose the upgraded voltage from what I was told when I was there

but a replacement set of jumpers would be simple

or fixing the cut in the existing jumper

ps The 4 has has no redundancy if anyone was curious but it is all new upgraded components

u have the better 4 pin now

u can't swap between the 4and 7 without doing the whole unit vs the half shell

IDK when they changed but the early ones were 7 pin

takes a minute to pull the cover and check but I think the 7 pin was 03 maybe early 04 only
