Cracking a piston and "limping" it home would be one way.

i'd say thats exactly what happened...they had horses...as long as the horses are fine they couldn't care less about the truck. you'd be amazed at how many people just don't care anymore about maintanence and flat out abuse their trucks though:morons:

i know i always see the bad ones but it seems like bottom end problems and it's total carnage with the 6.4. imo it's this crap fuel we have to run nowadays and takes these injectors (and pumps) out, causes them to bleed and then melts the pistons. this is the second block destroyed in less than a week...got a 2010 here with a scored wall...another bottom end...

I can tell you from the years of hauling show cattle around the country - if I need to get somewhere for the well being of the animal on the back - it wouldn't matter how many cylinders I lost - there have been many times over the years where not only the value of the complete load far exceeds the value of the entire truck - just one animal can far exceed the value. So when it comes to not caring - its all about priorities. That truck can always be repaired - animals not so much. Just some food for thought from a gear head that also been in similar situations before.

i know exactly what you mean, and have had to do that before... and yes, it is all about priorities.
