I'd do new axles too, but I barely have the money for this stuff right now. Our neighbor happened to stop down last night and knew right away what it was. He said it's not a speedi. He said it's a two piece seal that you put the seal, and wear ring into the hub and use the axle nut to press it all on at once. But he didn't tell me where to get them :fustrate: I'm still trying to figure out how to post pictures from my phone

Definitely need a pic.
I have "2 piece seals" also, but those instructions don't sound right.

Thanks but that's the stock sized seal. I mic'd the seal I took off and it came out to about 3.630ish. I cleaned up the spindle and it's pretty pitted. It might seal for a little while but it wouldn't last long.

If you can't find the right sleeve, get the two piece bearing seal and use rtv where the sleeve would go.
That was actually in the instructions for mine. No leaks.

Not on hand. It was the Timken from autozone. If they pull up different ones, have them pull it so you can look at it. The inner piece will turn independently of the outer.

Finally! The seals ford got me were right. Unfortunately I don't have the socket for the ratcheting nut on the spindle so I'm stuck with a hammer and screwdriver. To tighten them I made it as tight as I could without messing up the nut and then backed it off 1/6ish of a turn. Does this sound right? Not the proper way I know. No play in the hub and not too much turning resistance

Tightened them all the way again and backed them off about 5 clicks just to be sure everything seated. Took it for a drive and all seems well. No bearing singing, no hums, no heat. World's longest brake job is now over lol
