So after driving home from a night out with the family, my 08 decided it didn't need the #7 glow plug. Anyone ever have this problem? Am I screwed?

Wow, thats the first time I've seen that kind of glowplug failure. No contact marks on the tip? You should be able to unscrew whats left out of the head. Did anything else get damaged like the harness?

seen it before...replace the rest of them on that side at least. I replaced the one that blew out and then ended up having another blow out. replaced the rest of them at that point and haven't had any more issues. definitely a odd failure, but anything can happen.

I can't seen any damage on the harness, I'll find out when I put the new plug in.

As far as how I knew it spit it out, I was driving like normal then i heard a loud pop and loud compression leak, kinda sounded like an old tractor. lol

UPDATE:

Finally got the truck running again, turns out the OEM motorcraft glow plugs are made by NGK. Anyhow here's the pic of what was left inside the head.

I had the exact thing happen to my truck last month also. Job 2 '08. Had a glow plug code pop up the day prior. Then the following day the glow plug separated and popped out while I was going about 15 mph. Glad it was an easy and cheap fix.

Would any of you w/ an 08 consider replacing these just to make sure this wont happen? I have an 08 (not sure of the build) w/ over 103k all stock. i'm all for replacing parts that could fail and make a small problem HUGE.
