stalling issue help..

Hey fellas, I had symptoms of a bad cps sensor in my 96 7.3. Changed it out once. Still sputtered and stalled. Tried another one it ran good for about 15 minutes then shutoff goin down the road at about 45. WOuldnt fire up yesterday. I tried it this morning and it fired right up. Its been idling for about 20 minutes. What could the issue be?

i changed the cps, idm, ipr, and icp sensor. Still will fire up, idle for 15-20 minutes and sputter and shutoff. Any other suggestions?

The truck will idle fine for 15-17 minutes fine, then it will sputter and shut off. It will fire back up after about 10-15 minutes. Is it my fuel pump under the turbo?

If you still have the mechanical one then yes it is almost under the turbo.

You can check your fuel pressure on the schrader valve on the drivers side of the filter housing. Just use a pencil type air pressure guage and wrap a rag around it so that you don't take a diesel bath. You should have at least 20 psi at a idle.

just checked the fuel pressure... it is at 60psi. Does it matter if im on the rear or front tank? It been idling for 40 min now on the rear tank, and about 30 on the front.

Checking the fuel pressure would be a start and since it looks like you have good fuel pressure then you can rule out the fuel pump.

Where did you get your CPS? The ones from auto parts stores seam to be on the iffy side. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. Other than getting a scanner that can read Fords live data from the truck such as AE I would try a CPS from the Ford or International dealer if you have been getting yours at a parts store.

i got the cps from ford. Driving yesterday, it sputtered i gave it gas and nothing happened for a second or two, then it took off. it went down to an idle and stayed at idle. gave it gas and it sputtered. Then it finally shutoff.

changed my fuel pump behind the fuel bowl. truck started ran for about 5 minutes and shut off. It will fire back up but just shutoff. No sputtering just shuts off as if i turned the key off. How can i diagnose if its a hpop.

im stumped i cuz i changed the ipr, the icp sensor, the fuel pump, and idm. I dont know what the hell is left.

DUDE. IF YOUR HPOP IS NOT MAINTAINING PRESSURE WHEN ITS HOT, IT WILL NOT RUN.

you can change the idm, pcm, tps, ipr,icp, injectors, turbo, motor, and it will NOT fix the problem. your answer is find out wth is going on, and stop throwing parts at it.
