Mainly for discussion sake I guess, if you take an engine like Pontiaccross that had a stock bottom Pistons weren't taken out no block fill or girdle, didn't have headers did he?
Then you take an engine like isootmypants that had everything done to it internally Pistons, headers, ported and polished- all the fixins.

I wonder what the biggest differences will be. Throw out block flex and weak rods and so on. How much HP can be freed up with internal mods.

Main reason I ask is because a truck that had 400/400's and a S400 turbo should have done better than it did. Was it because he had a stock bottom end and just add on's?

Things like a stiff block that doesn't warp, anti friction skirts, ported heads, headers, that type of thing.

That engine could've just been tired. Low compression?

Is the question, how much hp can be had with a cam and ported heads?

And less restrictions? Higher rpm's?
Swamps testing a few years back on porting and cams across different fuel and turbo combos put out some numbers, but I know things have progressed since then.... Sounds like you're kind of asking along those lines?

Is this even a serious question?

How about if Pontiacross had a fully built engine WITH everything else he had, how much better or more HP would he have gained?

Somebody needs to find out if isootmypants engine is ok

Fully built is always better. It does matter who fully built the engine. It also helps to know who's tunes were on which engine. Cylinder pressure and low-end torque play crucial roles in what lives nd what doesn't.

video didn't work, but did isootmypants just blow a motor?

As mentioned, TJ hasn't been on here for a while, so we have no info there. The video was of an obs pulling, so it wasn't TJ's truck.

Exactly. There are so many variables, it makes it difficult to simply state setup xyz will give you xxx hp and last.
