So the story goes, I had tow h&S tuning in my 2011 f450. Was pulling our 20k horse trailer when I decided to take the scenic route to our destination. I knew there was a steep hill but forgot how steep. 3/4 up the 15mile hill the truck shuts down due to exhaust temp sensor reading temperature out of range. Let the truck cool down for 30 mins and its good to go . But now has a bit of a miss at idle. Continued on our way to and from our location. 3000miles later I finally take it into ford to see what the miss is They did a relative compression test and see #3 cylinder is down 13%.
Truck birth date is April, 2010. Truck has 99,500miles on it, & has been on the road for longer than 5yrs.
I have 3 options,
1: Get ford to put in new long block and submit for good will warranty.$15,000 up front than less any $$ that ford may chip in.
2: Buy a used drop in from a wrecked truck & have installed $8500
3: Tear down & see whats wrong. Than rebuild with the parts of my choice. $$$?
