Pulled the tranny out of my compounded Truck. The drain plug had metal shavings in it and the oil was black. Pulled the tc off and it had somthing loose in it. My question is do y'all think the stator could have came apart and caused all this or somthing?

Symtoms were tc stated unlocking and getting a torque converter solenoid code. Starting leaking fluid out of the bell housing. Not very much just about a foot diameter puddle after driving it. The last time I drove it the tc didn't lock at all.

My suncoast cracked and broke on the hub and messed up the pump. Got the same code but my fluid looked great. A buddies stocker came apart in the convertor and he got the same code and no lockup . His fluid looked great also. You could hear something rattling around in his as well.

Tore a stator up in a tbi 350. I'm always amazed what I can f-up with no real hp. If I ever had a high hp rig the sky would be the limit. I had all kinds of crap in the fluid of that 700r similar to what your talking about though.

Hmm, i pretty much blew my stock converter apart and even then the fluid was just dark red. A nice little mountain of metal was in the pan, but it wasn't close to being black.
