Torque converter fail?

hmm wonder what the deal is with the black coolant.

I would say the clutch came apart in the convertor. I know my 4r100 convertor did that at 1 year old and trashed the system with metal. I was bored and cut the convertor apart and it looked like the clutch disc wobbled in there and ripped chunks of the clutch off. It was rubbing on the housing itself inside and just tore all to hell. It had metal chunks embedded in it as well. Sounds kinda like what yours did.

turns out the front pump seal went out and the low/reverce pack was gone. They said that never happends and dont know what would cause it.... but anyway its getting fixed and probably upgraded.
