Hey guys I have 6.4 with sct 5015 tuner punch it performance/Rudy's diesel egr dpf off custom tunes. I have noticed my truck whenever the water temp is below normal operating temp (186-190) when stopping at red light or stop sign the converter won't unlock and try and pull you threw the red light. I have dpf and egr deletes on my truck. Whenever my truck does warm up to 190 then as you slow down to red light at like 15mph you can feel converter unlock and it's fine. Anyone have any suggestions? I asked Matt at punch it performance and he thought it was bad converter but my converter don't shudder or slip. Also he told me it's not the programing because he puts these on300-400 trucks a month and no issues like this before. Any suggestions what to check?

Built trans or stock?

When my buddy had his trans let lose in his 6.4 he brought it to aamco. He had a similar issue where as you would stop the tc would stay locked. His actually got so bad you had to put the truck in neutral when coming to a light so the tc didn't lock enough to stall the truck out. It was a factory defect in the tc and was covered under the warranty. I'm not assuming you did go to aamco or anything like that but if that seems similar or starts to happen it's a direction to lean towards. It wasn't the tuning as we tried 3 different tuning companies and nothing fixed it till it finally just let go completely.

Well today on my way home from work I had the wrench light come on. After it came on I got home shut truck off and looked at my tuner to see what code it was and it came up as No codes. So started truck back up and the wrench light was not on and I drove it this evening and it never came back on. Kinda weird if you ask me. I am not sure why it came on.

SCT is just an alright code reader but it won't find a lot of stuff the dealer can or even an A/E

In my experience, if you're having trans issues, and it throws the wrench light, and the light goes away after a restart, there's something actually wrong with your trans. And the sct probably won't find it. Gonna be a dealer or high end, like AE or the like, code find only.

Ok well now the wrench light isn't on anymore do you think I can still get the dealer to find out what code that was even tho the wrench isn't on anymore?

I'm not sure if it stores the code being it resets when the truck is restarted. I just asked my buddy who had the 6.4 with the trans issue. He actually said in the text that when he brought his truck to the shop they said they had numerous cases of the light coming on on the 6.4 and it was typically either the TC or 3rd gear. Common weak points maybe? Being that you're having a tc issue, that probably what it was. I'll say you've got a week left on it since the light started coming on. Maybe less

Before I drive the truck I think I'll put it back onto the stock setting that way it's easier on the truck. I will get a converter ordered ASAP. Who makes good converters? I would like a triple disc converter. I heard of revmax by my sisters boyfriends but also heard a lot of bad things about them. I liked there stage 5 triple disc. I am not familiar with to many trans parts companies out there. Also who makes better trans solenoids?

does anyone have a mini maxx you can borrow? if it didnt do it stock and it started immediately after installing the tune, i would be skeptical.

problem is-you will smoke your trans with it doing what it is.

I have a torque converter solenoid ordered I'm going to give that a try. Also I was thinking about turning my tuner back to stock. It didn't just start whenever I put the tuner on it I had bought the tuner week after buying truck so I cannot say if was tuner or not but it been slowly but surely here and there doing that.

Changed the torque converter solenoid today and on the way home the converter hasn't locked up whenever it's not supposed to. We used a ohm tester and checked the old solenoid we took out and it was reading 5.1 instead of 4.1-4.7. Also I started checking the rest of the solenoids while we had the pan off the others all read 4.8-4.9 besides the line pressure solenoid it was within spec. 5.4. So since the rest of the solenoids are .1-.2 higher then what they should be do you guys recomend changing them?
I was thinking about buying them as soon as I can but how soon do you guys recomend I change them?
