Well Im in the market for a new converter, and I'd like to see whats already out there, that some may not know about. Hopefully some sponsors on here can chime in with suggestion.

I wont run anything more from Suncoast, due to personal experience and the fact that every converter they offer for the 6.0 makes non vgt trucks fall flat on their face. I love my truck with a stock converter in it, I would love to keep the drivability of it, but obviously be able to handle the abuse ill put it through.

Anyone try anything different or custom built to application? I know the guys at MPD have been using a converter tested by BTS and built by precision, a looser stock stall form to help spool up of non vgts. This is something along the lines im after. The stock stall works just fine, no real need to lower the stall much, but these companies that sell off the shelf tripple lockup converters build them too tight.

Have at it guys.

Does RCD offer a converter for the 6.0L?
Haven't heard to much about anything in a higher stall...but it would be nice to have.
Course, a gear ratio change would work too...I got a full set of 4:10s I could put in, but was quoted over $1500.00 to do them...that's with me supplying the gear sets too, lol.

RCD does have a converter for the 6.0, my buddy Sean at SDP tried it but Ill leave it at that. I need to talk to Jared and see what they have to offer. I dont necessarily think raising the stall is a necessity for me, with 3.73s and the stock converter im spooling with zero issues. I'd like to keep what I have just stronger if you know what I mean :D

The problem I see if all the converters readily available can be a higher stall than stock, but if its too tight its worthless, This is what Im more or less getting at. Id like to see what a slightly higher stall looser converter would do. I may have to give Brian at BTS a call and see what he has to say.

The suncoast converters are stock stall, but theyre tighter than the stock converter. This plays a big roll in spooling larger especially non vgt turbos.

I have 4.10s in my truck and my sun coast converter works great :p

RCD's converter is the same one that Brian at BTS was testing. Both RCD and BTS are the ones who came up with it, BTS tested it and precision built it.

what are you looking for i use company out of ohio buckeye precision who i have had awsome luck with on 7.3 stuff. he builds a 7.3 converter for me using the 6.0l pump to lower the stall a bit and they love it. I talked to them about suncoast converters and they say they are lowering the stalls with the 5r110 stuff and turbos arent spooling up good at all. Pm me if you have any questions about pricing or anything else i can get you in contact with them.

So you want a stock stall, but looser? I had a local guy build my billet converter. I'll see what he can do. When I had mine put in it was a night and day difference with the stock charger. Haven't had a non-VGT back in it since the new TC, so I really don't know how well they react with a non-VGT.

It really depends, I've always been told looser converters usually means a higher stall. But in this case im not really sure and doesnt seem to hold true so much anymore. This is why I posted this thread, because I know some companies offer a "higher stall" converter, but it still stalls too early and makes larger turbo trucks to fall on their face.

FaSSt9602, yes exactly what Im saying. See what he says if you wouldnt mind taking the time to ask him. Lower stall converters usually work better with the smaller vgt turbos, which is what river city is doing.

Ive heard some not so great reviews on their business on other forums, but I dont have any personal experience with them. Know anyone running a converter from them?

No. we haven't had anyone do any full builds with one yet. Haven't heard anything bad about them either. Mind sharing, or at least point in the right direction?

Greg.

My personal non vgt truck had an RCD spec 2200 stall converter with the billet stator. 64/71 with 190s was the pair. The truck lit much more responsibly than my buddies truck with a suncoast, it was slightly looser than stock, and was a blast to street drive. I wouldn't do it any other way if I had to, it made the non vgt more of a blast on the street.
