ok fellas, ive done all i can do and i am still stumped. attached is the link to a short video. Im new on the army but seasoned on other forums, thought i better expand my range and join the army as well.
The backstory is so:
PATC torque converter failed, got 2 codes P0741 and P1744. In lieu of the amount of work i have going and can't afford to have the truck down, we dropped the trans and threw the stock converter in until PATC sends a new one. Well once the truck was back together, it made this noise immediately. We thought the starter may have gotten damaged (it got arced pretty bad) so i threw a new one in and it didn't change a thing. The noise is intermittent, comes and goes. Noise is seemingly from up front of the bell housing. Trans temp is normal, maybe a little low. only saw 150 degrees after a 15 minute highway cruise. All tc bolts are tight. Please see video at 6.4 bell housing noise - YouTube . Any help is greatly appreciated.

Was the flywheel bent at all from what you could see? Sounds like there is deffently something inside of the bell housing.

When you pull it back apart, you will see where it was rubbing I bet.

I agree to me it sounds like maybe the flex plate is hitting somewhere.

Are you sure that the converter got pushed all the way into the pump? If it didnt it could be pushing the converter forward, also make sure none of the weights came off the flex plate or came loose, they just tach weld them from the factory.

i really doubt this one but make sure you didnt accidently leave a converter nut down in there, i would think by no it would have been dislodged.

checked for loose nuts, heard 3 clicks when installing the converter so i think its all the way in. didn't check the weights. Will the sun coast flex need to be balanced with weights
? thanks a bunch guys. i hate the not knowing and i have to limp it around until the new flex plate and tc get here. still waiting to here from PATC about my converter. ill definitely update you as soon as i know anything. hope to have all the parts by next week. ordered sun coast flex plate and new tc nuts.

No updates yet from PATC but I was curious, will a triple disc converter heighten trans temp? Since throwing the stocker back in, not only are all my shifts smoother and better but I am seeing temps only as high as 160-163. My past normal was always 170. Any ideas? Could that tc have been bad awhile heightening the temps and screwing with the temps?

A triple disc billet converter does raise the temps a little bit and that is normal for what you are seeing. As far as the suncoast flexplate, you do not have to do anything more to it when you get it other than put it on the truck. They are ready to rock from the factory.
