cant beat the stability thats for sure, rpms leave some to be desired but man they are great tow rigs.
My parents were gonna get one, but with as far back as we lived in the sticks they decided against it because they float in the snow lol. I was bummed!
Your buddies 450 on 24's is crazy nice! Get him ti post some pics of it

Thats a true story... that truck is one of the sickest trucks ive seen! I love lifted duallys with some good lookin wheels. You almost never see them

I know everyone loves seeing the high horse builds. But thought I would show off some tow rigs we have built and what they do. Feel free to post up your rigs as well.

This truck is an 08 F-550 4.88 gears with a custom made bed. We installed a Gear Vendors overdrive, Kelderman rear air suspension with automatic ride height adjustment, DPF delete, Kem 150 tune, and a Banks air intake. Customer pulls a large fifth wheel with a boat behind it totaling 26k pounds.
Before the delete and tune the truck got 5 mpg towing at 65 mph gearvendors off. And egts were 1100 cruising and up to 1300 on hills. After the Kem tune the truck makes 450hp gets 10 mpg towing at any speed he wants, although he still only tows at 65. Egts are down to 750 cruising and no higher than a 1000 on hills.

I have that same kelderman mini bag system on mine. That was the first thing I did when I bought it. Where are you getting the Gear Vendors from? I thought they shut down?

Here is a picture of mine. 2001 550 with H2e, BTS, PHP tunes, Adrenaline HPOP and a bunch of minor mods. I don't tow heavy 10K tops but I got a good deal on the truck in 2003.

This truck is our shop tow rig. 08 F-450 4.30 gears 6 speed manual. It is a cab chassis with two fuel tanks and rolls across the scales with out a trailer at 11,600lbs. Truck has a DPF delete, Kem 150 tune, Banks air box, Banks intercooler, Banks speed brake. A custom built B&W flat bed, with a buckstop bumper. This truck regularly pulls a a 22k pound toy hauler fifth wheel or our 40ft enclosed race trailer. Before all mods the truck was a turd didn't wanna go much over 70 pulling and would only get 6 mpg at best. Egts were around 1100 cruising as well and peaking around 1400 on the big hills out here. After everything done to it this truck makes 451hp and pulls anything with ease at 80 mph. Averaging about 11 mpg still not stellar but a huge increase never the less. Egts are down to 800 cruising and barely hit 1000 on hills. In the next few weeks this truck will be getting a gearvendors and a southbend clutch as well.

Thats a good looking truck. Were a dealer for gearvendors and that unit was actually installed about 6 months ago. I haven't heard anything about them shutting down.

Southbend just came out with a new 3200 dual disk for work truck applications. Its supposed to have stock like pedal pressure but hold up to 600hp. It should be here next week and i'll let you know how it performs. I don't remember right off what size the tires are but they are an all terrain type tire that work far better than the factory straight treads did. We also put a detroit true trac in the front of our 450 and when combined with these tires its an animal in the snow.

Some really nice tow rigs in here!

Here's mine. Not setup nearly as nicely as most of the tow rigs in this thread but it moves everything I ask it to.

Here's my 2 work/haul rigs. Both are 450s. They both have been able to handle everything I've thrown at them. The box is surprisingly smooth and stable for being 12' tall. With the long wheelbase I'd like to put a set of bags on it though. It really likes to squat under a load. The dump I've had up to 7.5 tons in and it gets up and goes and stops like a dream. The box doesn't get worked nearly as often but the dump has 10k on it since Jan and hasn't had a single problem yet.
