Train Horn Installs... Let's see them!!

So my wife surprised me with some "help" on buying the train horns I wanted, but wanted to get some ideas on mounting everything.

If you don't mind sharing, let's see some pics.

I ended up with the 540 Conductor's Special from Hornblasters. Should be here Wednesday.

I removed the spare tire and the crank assembly that lifted it. A friend made me a mount that used the bolt holes from the crank assembly. The mount also had the appropriate holes in it to accept the horn. Sorry, I don't have a good pic of it.

Some people have a much better imagination then I. LOL

I was looking at mine on the lift the other day and was thinking maybe in the front part bed between the inner and outter skins? you know the place like where you fuel fill hose runs..... but not that side the other side.

I'm also concerned about how they will sound, I'd hate to get them mounted, and have them sound like crap.

It don't matter where you mount them as long as nothing it pressed up against the front of em and there is 1/2" air line ran to them then they will be LOUD.

I think it's a 1/2" line to the splitter atleast, if I'm reading the instructions properly.

pretty much anywhere you mount them, they'll be loud as hell, trust me. In my old truck I put them in the spare tire carrier, but I've also seen people run them pointed down in front of their rear wheel well

Ok. Lol. Anything I need to watch for to avoid any past mistakes?

Normally I don't use the instructions, but with trains horns I did. Use them and they will tell you everything you need to know. Don't need to "wing" it or anything

Ok. I'm the opposite, I always read thru once atleast. I've made stupid mistakes in the past by not taking the time, so I always do now, atleast on stuff I'm un-familiar with anyways.

I just installed a set of Hornblasters in Chelseas Excursion, but I dont have any pictures. Made a bracket to mount the pump, tank on the inside of the frame rail, and the horns are mounted above the rear drive like/axle...

Nice. So that's in a toolbox in the bed? I was thinking of that, should be easy enough to pull out if the need arises. Couple of QD's and pull it right out?

I have a long bed so I have more room than the short bed. My chimes are on the drivers side in front of the wheel well, and the air tank is at the same location on the passenger side. The compressors are on the frame under the cab on the passenger side.

Mines a long bed as well. I've seen them mounted up pointing down between the grill and the intercooler, I like that spot for use of a "dead" area, and hidden as well.

I have my tank mounted inside the framerail between the transfer case and fuel tank.
Compressor is mounted on the outside the frame rail right by the tank
Horns are mounted to the frame in front of the rear passenger tire pointed back.

My compressor is set up to cut on/off at 90/110 and my tank is 5 gallon.

That's very similar if not identical to how my friend has his. I'm on the fence about lowering the stance of the truck, atleast in the back to level it out (once I figure out the easiest way.. Lol) so I want to make sure nothing will get damaged.
