So once again took another trip to Sequoia National Park here in lovely CA and experienced the same problem as last time. Wasn't towing anything just a bed full of camping stuff. When going up 15 miles of steep slow pace roads my trans temp hit 230  so I pulled over and let them cool down for a bit. I had to pull over twice because of my trans temp. My question is, what do I need to do to keep my trans temp lower? BTW I was running Spartan 210TOW tune the whole way. Mods are: S&B Intake, 5" flopro w/dpf & cat delete, Spartan Tuned, 4" superlift on 35's w/ 18's

slow pace is part of the problem for sure, but usually hot temps means ur driving with the converter unlocked. heat is built with an unlocked converter.

I believe on the tune I was running it doesn't lock until 45mph. I did notice when I got up to that mph it would cool down but most of the way was slow speed.

Yeah, mine locks at about 40 MPH. It can almost cool itself once it is locked LOL

i dont think so, you need to go a bit faster, over 45.

Doesnt Spartan offer a low lock tune? Might be worth looking into. Since you already have their tunes the updates are free from what I understand.

Where in the world are you going that you have to cruise at 35 for extended periods of time lol? Like said above. Get the converter to lock and watch them temps fall

Long hills and tight turns. I have too also in some of the mountains pulling a trailer. Yes the tranny can get a little warm. I can get mine to lock before 35 and wont unlock till around 30, which helps out a lot. I would call your tuner and see if they can write a tune for you that will lock off MPH in any gear.
