Trans temp sending unit

How do you hook up the wiring for the trans temp sending unit for I know where the unit goes but the wiring for it is there supposed to be a washer or something to hold the connector on or do you put the connector over the unit the screw it into the transmission

I can tell you that isn't a replacement for the factory sensor. I can say that because you can't replace the factory sensor by itself.

Typically, I've seen a female spade connector for a sender like that. Just slides on.
