My transmission on my 2000 7.3 will shift into drive and drive just fine in first, but will not shift into drive until i rev it to 2500rpms or 20mph, then i have to let completely out of the throttle and let it shift, and it will run fine, but if i give it to much throttle before it get into enough rpms it will slip out of 2nd and rev to hell and back, then i have to let out of it again and let it shift back into 2nd and usually it hits second so hard the whole truck shakes, what the hell could this problem be?

I know it is not something anybody wants to hear, but it's true. You have having typical problems that occur when the trans is on its way out. Jumping in and out of gear, delayed shift, etc. Do you have a trans temp gauge?

Your temps are fine. But like Mark said, failures aren't always from temps. Just remember, anything mechanical can/will fail at some point. Is your trans stock?

Maybe try unhooking the batteries for a few days and let the trans control module reset? Doubt it will do anything but its worth a try?

Yes it is stock and i cant remember the last time it was serviced, when it first started acting up i changed fluid in the pan and it really wasnt that bad looking, and the night that it went out i was cruising down the highway and when i came to the stop light and tried to take off it was acting like this, this was before i had the temp gauge, but i had a 50hp superchip in at the time

I would say that could be your culprit...

There's nothing to reset. This will be as useful as letting the air out of the tires and refilling them.

When I was having battery problems I left them unhooked when I went on a business trip, and when I came back it was shifting funky and surging bad. Turned the truck off then back on again and it drove like it did before...something had to have reset imo.

I dont mean to be an asshole but why would the superchip do that?

Because without custom tuning(DP, Wildman, PHP, Swamps, etc...) shift strategies are left in place. This means that they are not tweaked by the chip. When shifting strategies are kept in stock form and extra power is added, it takes a toll on your tranny. For instance, your stock engine makes 250 hp, so the transmission is built to withhold 250 hp. When you add 80 hp you are now making 320 hp, but your stock trans tuning is still set for 250 hp.

Did you ever notice that shifting felt the same with stock tuning and with the Superchip? And then when you put the F8 in it firmed up and TC lockup was different? That is the difference with custom tuning. Tuners usually spike up the line pressure to achieve faster firmer shifts. When shifts are faster and firmer it creates less heat and friction. This, in turn, will extend the life of the trans...
