Just had my trans complet;y rebuilt. But I am still seeing 180 as far as the temps go. Is this normal or too hot. I think it is to hot personaly. Any input would be apreciated. And what are my options to cool it down?

Thanks

i dont konw. if your at 180* after 17 mins, you might have a issue.

seems thats awfully hot that fast. specially since is lots of highway.

just my opinion.

im not sure if built units see hotter temps. but my stock one with almost 120k, sees max hwy driving 150* and thats after 30min @65mph with some decent hills. city maybe 175 after 20 min when the temp is already @ 140-150* before city traffic.

im thinking you might have a bad sending unit for the guage.

while it might be getting that hot, that fast, if it was you would be having a failure by now, if it was doin it day in day out.

and explain a little more, about your never over, never under.

did you buy your truck new?

im also thinking, if you did not, someone might have put a thermal bypass in your tranny line. that would make it heat up faster, and not go over or under your 180*

Every trans I've ever had rebuilt would run kinda warm for the first few weeks and my builder said that it's normal until stuff "breaks in" a little. I'd call whoever did your trans and ask them just to be safe.

Mine always runs around 180-190, it was even like that stock. I see these guys on here that run 150-160 and I wonder if the higher temps had a hand in my stocker going within 25 000mi.

You have got to look at the temps alot of these guys are in, some guys are in Upstate NY, where some of us are in South alabama and Texas. If you arent seening over 210 or so I would think you are fine. Some of these guys are driving highway seeing 155-170 while some guys like me see a lot of stop signs, backroads so Im getting through the gears alot

Mine runs 163 on the highway, about 158 to 160 in town, if I run it, heats up about 5 seconds after the run then settles right back down
