Ok Fellas. My truck had a lot of slope in the steering wheel so i replace the gear box with a new on from read head. But the problem is still there vary little slop in the wheel but my truck seems to wander all over the road. Ball joints, Tire rod, and drag link all seem to be in good shape. Looks like the sway bar bushings could be replace and the track bar i can not tell but they might. Im going to replace them this weekend to be sure thats no the problem. The truck seems to almost over steer when i touch the wheel. Also the Red head had some play in it also from the factory. Is this normal? They had a tag on the adjustment nut that stated if it was adjusted it would void the warranty. Any one else run into this. Some buddy help. I took my 30 Travel trailer out over the 4th and it was a work out to keep it in my lane for the 200 mile trip.

If it four wheel drive, check the u-joints on the front axle shafts. They can bind up and cause steering issues. You can try locking in the hubs and go for a drive to see if the steering gets any better or worse. If you feel a change then it is definitely a problem with the u-joints.

My 08 was doing basically the same thing, but I had no issues with steering box. Decided to replace with Redhead anyway. Still no help. I had it at two different alignment shops abd both said all was well. I finally found some alignment specs on line and discovered that my caster was off.
