One more question. How durable and how long will the paint last? Lifetime warranty?

Wow I should have crossed the boarder to get my truck painted! You couldn't get a scooter painted for under $3000 in Alberta. Recently had my truck painted and that ran me $12,000.. Which was one of the cheaper quotes, highest was $16,000. Body shops as well as dealerships around here charge anywhere from $100-$140 per hour.

I paid $1500 cash two years ago to have my CAB ONLY done. Looks factory and just beautiful. He was slow at the time though.

Dupont is the best paint out there. If you buy something else you're over paying. The clear and primer are called advantage. Primer bout $120 gal with catalyst, clear is $196 with catalyst. I love dupont.

I've been quoted anywhere between $1500-8000, It's getting really frustrating trying to find someone decent to spray my truck. The best part is, I have all rust free panels an zero dents. I wanted to have my truck painted an done awhile ago, but at this rate my truck won't get paint till the end of this year

It's hard to find a good body shop. If they can hide it they will. Sucks for them I tear the truck apart when I get it back. The roof on mine got sprayed 3 times.

Good body shops are really hard to find anymore. I think I've found a good one though. I've stopped by several times to check thier progress and I really like what I see. Can't wait till they're done.

That is the main reason I do my own tear down and my own put back together.

wherever you got your paint you got SHAFTED i can get PPG deltron primer for about 95 bucks a gallon and is far better than dupont primer, and i like working with it alot better. and 2021 clear which is a good clear for about 150.

to the op-- i painted and did all the body work on my truck with all PPG and it was about 700 bucks one qt of the blue was almost 300 bucks in itself. but it depends alot on the color, red is one of more expensive colors, as well as metallics and pearls. if you wanted to do a plain white or black it would be alot cheaper. paint is a good case of you get what you pay for. you shell out the cash for a good paint job you wont regret it.

Wow. Dupont and PPG are NOT the top of the line. Try some Glasurit and tell me wat you think. My crew cab just quoted at 4600 just for the SIDES. no roof. Hood. Tailgate. Or bumpers. That was tearing it all apart. If you dont take out handles and windows etc it IS a ****ty paint job. I dont care what you say. It WILL peal from those items. Get it done right and tear it apart. Pull everything that can be removed on the panels that are being painted. Youl get a MUCH nicer job. Dust and dirt hides in the crevices of all those parts and when your painting it WILL blow off. Remove it and take care of it correctly. Thats just my .02 cents tho. Im sure someone will tell me im wrong but i know whats right and what isnt.

I agree, its all in the prep and care of sanding and cleaning the vehicle. Oh and by the way you are right.

i compared ppg to dupont because they are on a similar playing field, if you want to spend the money, the sky is the limit, sikkens, house of kolor the list goes on, but you could buy the best paint in the world and its only going to look as good as the body work under it. if you are going to cheap out on the prep theres no point in splurging on top of the line paint.
