i was pulling tonight had Gear head tunes loaded up with econ trans file, the truck pulled great and when the red flag flew at the end of the run i let off the throttle and the truck just shut off, this is the first time its happened to me and it did it both times i pulled a few hours apart. it fired right back up and there is no CEL, anyone have any ideas to why it shut off?

Mine does the same thing every time I pull it was explained to me that there is to much air coming into the cylinders when you let off that hard with no bov it rushes the cylinders and there is no fuel there to ignite the amount of air so it snuffs it out and truck shuts down. Doesn't hurt anything kinda embarrassing every time but nothing to worry about from what I understand

Tq converter still locked killing it? Had a 7.3 with 4r100 that would die from converter lockup. Idk I haven't had any dealings with 5r110 since mine is manual.

Yeah that's right. As I'm getting out of the throttle at the red flag I never let out of it completly I let it come down 1/2-3/4 throttle and then bump it back up a 100-200rpms so it doesnt snuff out

so if i was to get a BOV like plan on doing when i get a 72 atmo, that will cure the problem?

Definitely make sure you fire it right back up and don't let It sit when that happens to keep from cooking your oil

Torque converter should be locked or your pulling with the wrong tune. My truck does the same thing if I just let off the throttle. If I touch the brakes first and let off a little slower, it will never stall. My 6.0 was the same way.

i was pullin in Gearheads race tune
im really starting to think the river city diesel cam i put in has done jack chit. looking at the cam next to the stock one it looked different but the lobes were shorter than stock and they claimed the lift on the new cam was 2x what stock lift is, honestly i think i wasted my money buying the cam

Well I can't say anything on the cam haven't seen one or done any measuring on it but I pull in the same tune and I really can't think of anytime where my temps was over like 1300 something, might of been a little higher but not coming down from the 1700s

If the cam is a smaller lift then I could see where temps would be getting way out of hand maybe someone will chime in on that man iv heard good bad and nothing at all on the cams iv been looking at them just to increase my rpm rang but still haven't found any real good info on that it does that
