One of the plugs was a bit dirty. Cleaned it up, drove it a bit, and no codes. I will drive it further in the next few days...

I drove my truck today - and the same damn P2453 DTC came up.
I emailed KEM to see if they feel it is a software issue (their tunes), a truck issue, or a hardware problem (Minimax)?
Any thoughts??

I have been busy planting crops on our farm - havent had time to research things. Mike wants me to pull the DPF pressure sensor from my DPF and plug it in to see what happens. I will get this in the next day or so...
I saw another thread in this section about a VGT actuator shaft broken and the associated symptoms (that sound like mine!).
I think I have 2 issuers happening, the DTC one, and a turbo one?
How would I check that VGT actuator shaft??

The broken actuator shaft is only throwing a P2263 code. You can move the actuator by hand (with the key off) to check it, also it will cycle through its range of motion when the key is turned on.

When my truck. Keep throwing that code I replace the actuator and 10 billion ebp sensors. Took one of the blocking plates off and alot of gunk came out... no more code

I plugged my DPF pressure sensor into the harness and it hasnt thrown a DTC yet.
Now that the truck is operating w/o a code, the excessive smoke / lazy turbo condition persists - very frustrating to determine the cause... not sure what to try next...
I was hoping the DTC was the cause of my truck acting up!

have to you checked for exhaust and boost leaks? You should be able to pressure test both sides and w/ a bottle of soapy water or a smoke machine you can find leaks.

Ford checked for leaks and so did we; however, its so damn tight in there - I like the soap / bubble idea --- here we go again. Thanx for that tip...
There were no visible signs of any soot deposits anywhere...

Well the DTC has been cleared and the tune reloaded - now no DTC.
Turbo actuator does its normal cycle - pull actuator rod manually and it feels to be engaged so I dont think its broken.
MAF sensor cleaned, MAP and EBP (along with tube) sensors replaced.
Air filter is clean.
No exhaust leaks - looked for soot, even used soapy water spray / bubble watch method everywhere.
Smoke at lower rpm's persists when you gently roll on the throttle unlike it used to do...

any other ideas?

Have you downloaded a H&S tune? Try that, because I had the same issue running KEM 345 on my Spartan since 09. I then started running into the same problems, and called KEM. There was nothing he could do although I did not update the Spartan. So I changed the tune to the updated Spartan 300, and have not had a problem since. I am talking 35lbs boost cruising at 73mph on the highway. Good luck.

I have a leak from the up-pipe to the oxidation catylist fitting AND at the actuator on the HP turbo.

Found them w/ 25lbs of pressure and soapy water.

I did both the intake and exhaust side. My intake tubing was tight but all my leaks are with the exhaust piping.

OH, there was NO soot at any of the leaks :wtf:

siliconintakes has decent pricing and a HUGE selection.

So did you ever figure out why the tune acted the way it did, or do you have any ideas as to why that happened??

I was loosing boost at WOT, or hard acceleration when I tow my bronco. I went from 40lbs in tow under throttle, to a high in X of 38 w/ a leak down to about 28lbs.
I lost mileage and driveability so I started looking for leaks after bouncing ideas off IDP.

I did a low pressure test and nothing. I slowly turned the regulator up and i could hear it at about 25ish lbs. I kept the reg there and sprayed away. The cab will need to come up to check the rest of the connections. Either way, thank God, the HP turbo is under warranty so that covers the other gasket leak as well.

PM your # and I can send you a vid of what I found. they're not supre fancy but you can see the bubbling.

AND it was my old ford tech that told me he uses smoke, 25-30lbs (according to ford guidlines), caps the exhaust and uses the EBP bung to test from when he's looking for leaks on the exhaust side.
I used a silicon reducer and put it on the straight pipe and w/in a few minutes I found 2 leaks my new dealership couldnt find.

good luck.

New development - my truck has started to make a screeching / squealing sound at any boost levels above about 18 psi and gets louder with more boost. The sound is very much like that of an air blow gun if its held right against your skin - that air leaking sound. I cant see anything visible...
I think I have an air leak of some sort - what would the symptoms be if my EGR valve (closed via tuning) were to be leaking by??
Any other ideas??

Exhaust leak? Seen manifold gaskets/broken manifold bolts make strange noises like this.

You probably shouldn't know what a blow gun sounds like pressed right against your skin either. It can cause you to have a bad time.
