over the weekend while hauling desert toys my truck while going down the road make a jolt then developed a huge miss/lope , barley stays running and has barley enough power to move the truck , cel is on and while turning it around in the street the other day the cel randomly went off and the truck started running normal for a few seconds like it should then the cel came back on and started running like trash again , now to the question , can i unplug connectors while the engine is running or will it cause sparks n such?

just checked and it threw these codes after it the cel went off then back on

p1670 - EF feedback signal not detected

po603 - internal cntrl mod KAM error

p1316 - injector circ / IDM codes

po478/po470 - exhaust back pressure circut high/low forgot what they were

most of the sensors use a small reference voltage so no sparks

not sure it's the best way to test unless you know what your unplugging ?

sorry , here is a better question , how do i dress those problems? i have read that the p1316 code is the issue with my truck , (service engine light and it seems to be in limp mode) not to sure about the internal control mod KAM error , a lot of people are saying it could be a dab idm , chances good?

was going to keep it running then unplug maybe the icp , or the connectors going into the VC and see what happens

i just fill in the void while we wait for someone who is a 7.3 guy LOL

i looked it up and pin pointed a few things , but wanted to be sure what was the problem

Check the connector on the IDM. Drivers side fender. Pull it out, inspect the pins and clean it up.
You can unplug the UVCH plugs one at a time (dropping two cylinders per plug) but my guess is you've got something going on with the IDM connection.

Run a buzz test and retrieve the stored codes in the idm... that's what 1316 means. Very rarely is it actually a failed idm.

Not unusual at all... loose connector, burnt pin, wiring backing out of the connector, all have happened to me. If it happens to me now, first thing is to pop the hood and wiggle the uvch connections. Always has worked to make it stop. Then you know a side. Then turn the motor off, pull the side that fixed it and visually inspect all the connectors and ohm out the pins. This will let you know if its even necessary to pull cover(s) or if you have an issue in the motor side (backing out wire, burnt connection, incomplete connection, etc)

If you have access to a infrared thermometer just point it at the exhaust manifold when the truck is running rough and you'll should be able to narrow it down to which cylinders are not firing properly.

Unplug them and use a volt tester to ohm them. Use the search button to figure out how.

isolated the problem to the front injector towards the bumper on the driver side , with the injector itself plugged in , the truck lopes/smokes and barley stays running , with it unplugged it runs decent , no smoke ,

swapped the two front injectors and it did the same thing , with the front one plugged in it runs like hell and with it unplugged it runs decent , could the connector it self be bad? or the whole harness
