Upgraded master cylinder?

With the addition of bumpers and larger wheels I have found my braking to be lacking now...go figure. So I added SSBC 8 piston calipers which helped a lot but in a panic stop it seems the last 1/3 of pedal travel does nothing.

Does anyone know if a F450 or F550 master cylinder has a larger piston and will fit a F250 hydroboost? I am looking for more volume/pressure to help stop my lead brick.

Also would braided brake lines help get the pressure to the calipers? I still have the stock rubber lines at 12 years old.

Stainless braided lines would do a lot for your braking pedal and feel. How old are the brakes themselves? I am assuming you put all new brakes on when you switched to the SSBC V-8's. Also have you completely flushed and replaced the brake fluid with some quality fluid? I will be doing mine in a few weeks with ATE Type 200 fluid. CT Performance a sponsor here can get you set-up with the brake lines you need he has the 3 piece sets for the rear most you only get a single rear line to the distribution block but he has that line and includes from the distribution block to each caliper as well. PMF also sells braided lines as well and is another option for you. I would def recommend changing out the fluid and the addition of good lines and it will be another big improvement for you.

Brakes maybe have 5000 miles on them. The fluid was flushed when I installed the new calipers. I will order a set of braided lines and try that out as my lines are as old as my 2002 truck.

I have the SSBC calipers on my 00 with regular lines that I put on when I did the calipers. The master has over 200k miles and the truck stops great. I wouldn't worry about trying to upgrade the master, start with the basics like new lines and bleeding both sides of the calipers.
