Anybody have any helpful tips or anything to changing these suckers out with the cab on? I already have an egr delete pipe on it so that part at least isn't an issue.

Not looking forward to this job. LOL

yank the turbo, remove the heat shield (and leave it off), undo manifold bolts, and remove. when putting them back on, get them back into place and put the manifold bolts in the flanges but don't tighten them up. then get the dp and ypipes lined up and clamped up top first, then go back under and tighten the manifold bolts. easy but a PITA.

Yeah, it's the getting to the bolts part that I'm not looking forward to, lol.

cake. about 1.5 hours, and shut the hood.

drivers side. 3/8 long flex head ratchet, deep 13mm socket,1 inch extension, with a stubby 10mm 6 point wrench

pass side. same 3/8 ratchet, 13mm deep, 3 inch extension, 10mm wrench.

you just had that stuff apart, so it shouldn't be bad at all.

I had to take mine all the way out when I did my egr delete, and turbo swap. I couldn't get the egr pipe bolts out. That being said all these guys have told is almost exactly how I did mine. It's a fairly simple job just time consuming.

Mine were pretty easy. Pull turbo. Remove heat shield. Unbolt up pipes from manifold and pull the whole assembly out. Swap your delete pipe to new pipes and put them back in. Connect up pipes to turbo before you tighten them at the manifolds.

I just did mine tuesday. It took me 7 hours start to finish and a lot of skin off my hands. Probably could of done it faster but it was the first time messing with a 6.0. I had to pull the downpipes and the delete pipe in one piece cause i couldn't get the bolts up top off. It took about 30 min just to finagle it out and ended up heating them up then they came off like butter. I went through a hole at the bottom of the fender well to get the outside manifold bolt out had about 2 foot of extensions but that seemed the easiest way. I also put anti-sieze on all the bolts but they are in such tight spots im not sure how much was left by the time i got it all together. Not sure how much heat effects that stuff but i figured it couldn't hurt.

First time i did mine, was a PITA. Followed same procedure. I found a set of stock pipes for cheap. Never again. I found a friend of a friend who is a ford tech, and works on six ohs all day. Hes going to charge me $300 to do the whole job. Money well spent, considering i already did it once, and dont want to do it again.

7hrs!!! Man that's rough. I did my egr delete, had to pull the up pipes to fix it and injectors and turbo swap in 9hrs from start to running

I was thinking the same thing, lol. I can take my cab off and put it back on in about 6 hours by myself.

My only concern is getting to the bolts where the uppipes meet the manifolds. Just seems like that would be a real pita. I've got stubby wrenches and the other tools y'all listed though so I'll probably see what happens Sunday.

Dont feel bad about taking 7 hours for up pipes. I could probably make that an all weekend project, I just spent almost 2 putting on my coolant filter :lookaround:

It might have been less there was some breaks lol My biggest issue was that i couldn't get it undone at the delete pipe. Now that i know where all the bolts are and what tools to use i could probably do it in about 4. My manifold bolts came out no problem. Sprayed them with a little pb and it was cake. It was harder to put those back in tho.

When y'all say remove the heat shield, what are you talking about specifically? I've got everything loose but it isn't coming out as an assembly and the only heat shield I see is riveted to the uppipe.

Its the one behind the ficm. Mine was bolted to up pipes. Also I believe there is a bolt that holds the heatshield to the back of the block.

No heat shield between the uppipes and hpop cover?

it's that big ass silver/aluminum thing right by the uppipes (you can't miss it). you have to run your fingers across the back/bottom of the shield. it's bolted into the back of the block in 2 places (along with the ones you can see)
