Hey guys. It is very hard to put my truck into 4x4. Actually almost impossible. I have auto hubs. I put my truck I neutral and let it roll a bit to let it get out of any bind. Then it says to push down then which ever position. But my shifter won't budge. My dad got it to go by having to yank on the shifter. It works perfect when its in. It is also very hard to get it out. My dad is the only one to get it in so far, I can't budge it. I'll push on it and it and the shifter just bends a little and comes back. The trans and tcase looks very new, it is not dirty or rusty. So I took and sprayed the linkage with WD 40 and trued again and still no luck. So I'm gonna spray it again and let it sit for a while and see. Any input???

I'd use a Teflon based spray. I've had a few trucks where that linkage binds up, just keep spraying it periodically an working the shifter back an forth as much as you can. If you don't know the history on the truck (if maybe it's had an axle swap), you can try jacking up either the front end or back end to get the wheels off the ground just to make sure it's not binding up due to mismatched gear ratios

I swapped the rear axle but it is same ratio. Its kinda hard to work it back and forth when it won't budge though. I'll get my dad back out there and see if he can work it. Also what position is it supposed to be in when driving normal. 2wd or neutral?

Okay well I think I've been driving it in neutral. Dad said he pulled it back once and it was in low. The low range light wasnt on though, the 4x4 light was. But it seems like the position is in neutral because the shifter done seem like its pushed all the way forward.

It wont move in neutral. Sounds like you are in 4x4. 2hi is where you want to be and that position is all the way forward.

Okay well I must be in 2h. I know its not 4x4 because front shaft don't move. But the shifter doesn't look like its pushed all the way forward. But I guess it is. But still haven't solved my problem why its so hard and almost impossible for me to move the shifter. Is the clutch supposed to be pushed in or anything??
