Take the converter bolts out and slide it back as far as you can, then start it. That will tell you if it's the trans or engine.

drive shaft re-installed 'in-phase'? That would only be affected by road speed, so if its an engine speed issue, then it wouldnt be it.

^^^no worries Amarillo, I wasnt correcting you. Your suggestion just made me think about the reinstallation of the shaft.

Mine did the exact same thing when my convertor bolts came loose. Does it act similar to a 12valve when you shut it down?

Maybe they bolts on the crank loosened slightly

No doesnt really act like a 12valve shutting down.

That is the next thing on my to due list.

I took the whole rear drive shaft down as one peice, when I pulled the old trans and put it up as one peice, and I think it will only go on one way wont it? Or it could possibly be 180 off, I will have to check it out. But like you say if it is an engine issue, that wont be it.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far guys, I appreciate it. I should be able to get some time either later this week or possibly saturday to check it out some more and see what I find. Again, thanks guys!

Well I haven't had any time to mess with the truck or call anyone yet to get their opinion on it. But last night I did unbolt the tc an slide it back and engine seemed to be fine. So I am fairly sure it has to be the tc. Can it be coming apart inside? Any way I can check it out using AE? I know it has a converter slip parameter but I do not know what it is supposed to be reading at what rpms, locked, or such. Plan on calling an tryna get ahold of Brian tomorrow an if I dont get him I will have to do some more calling around.

Ive had the bolts out twice now an pretty sure they are the right ones. An I looked at the flexplate before I put the trans in an couldn't see any visible cracks and cannot see any now. I have called Bts an Brian is supposed to call me when he gets a chance.
