anyone using a water deionizer ?
Ive been thinking about getting the dirinse system but not sure if I really need it.
My water measures at 26-28 ppm but I am getting waterspots.
I suspect from rain/sprinklers more then anything after measuring my water source.
The marks in the paint are caused by something touching the paint. A touchless will typically not mark anything up, until you dry it by hand.
Ok, generally, what other "negatives" are there with a touch-less wash ?
Ok, thanks. Having said that, applying a coat of paste wax every 2-3 weeks is a good idea ?

You should be fine every 3 months with a good wax. For a cheap very good wax. I like Meguiars Ultimate paste wax.
I use a waterless wash with wax every time I wipe down the truck. So I technically wax it every wash.
I would use a spray wax while wiping down to boost the wax.
This is the waterless wash I use. It cleans everything while leaving behind some protection. It comes concentrated. Just add distilled water in a bottle. Just make sure you purchase some very good MF towels to dry.

I use 3M Perfect-It purple bottle A, B and C and topped with their synthetic wax. Works fine but I would like to try Menzerna. I heard that Menzerna is better than 3M. What is the Menzerna equivalent to the 3M A, B, C?
I attached pics of my truck and my 1987 GN with original lacquer paint done with 3M. Both were done with the Rupes Bigfoot.

Anybody do any polishing with a cordless grinder?
Griots Garage sells them too. What's nice is one of them has an uber long power cord.I wouldn't. Most grinders are way too fast for polishing paint.
For example, a porter cable or a rupes vary from ~2000 to ~6000 rpm and are variable speed. An m18 grinder has one speed and it's 9000rpm
Keep in mind, you usually won't be polishing at the upper limit, so you could be two or three times as fast as you should be.
The Porter Cable 7424 is like 120 bucks and it's a great tool. You can get a few high quality pads for 30 bucks, and you're into a high quality paint correcting setup for the cost of 10-15 car washes. I'd read up a bit on compounds/polishes/waxes/ etc and what speeds to apply them at.
