Weird Fuel Leak, need help

I have a weird fuel leak problem with my truck..
it leaks down above the starter but it's neither constant, nor does it happen every time..

In fact, I dropped it off at a Diesel shop that's been trying to find the leak since sunday.

It refuses to leak while it's there but has leaked for me all the time. The mechanic said it's spilled fuel once and it was just from the valley, so he did not have a chance to see where it came from.

my fuel mileage has been crap, i can barely pull 320 miles on a full tank and once in a while i will smell fuel through the vents in the cab..

any help would be grately appreciated

Sounds like your fuel bowl drain valve. Also check the fuel bowl lid o ring to make sure its tight.

Clean valley out, maybe that can help find it.

Thanks for the input. i'm really new to ford, and somewhat new to diesel so im just trying to figure stuff out. Never seen a fuel bowl before haha

Just fix this problem on my truck a couple weeks ago. I had fuel in the valley and fuel smell through heater vents also. My fuel bowl was leaking everywhere, I ordered the fuel bowl rebuild kit from dieselorings.com and fixed it. The fuel bowl is on top right behind the hpop, it is the housing the fuel filter goes in.

Check the fuel lines running under the GPR. They run through a hold down clamp under there. It likes to rub through the line.

That's good to know, I called the shop again, and the guy said he thinks the fuel bowl leaks so he's throwing new o rings at it. Hope it will fix it.. if not, ill keep digging.
