I know right that vid sounds horrible. My truck is still good. I'm taking everywhere to see if it acts up. I dropped down to the 80 tune just for safety

It doesn't make sense to me that your engine was spewing black smoke and your boost was zero and it was a programming error.

Do the VGT vanes on these turbos have that much control over their operation ? I wouldn't think so, but I know zero about these engines.

If it were my truck, I'd be looking deeper into things. If I had to guess, I'd say your turbo threw a blade and jammed, momentarily. But like I said, I don't know anything about these engines.

I wouldn't be driving it with a noisy turbo until I figured out what happened.

There is no noisy turbo... I switched tunes and I have been driving it for the past month with absolutely no issues. I drive over 100 miles a day. I have it on the 80hp tune and all is well. And from what I have heard, it is possible for the vein to stick and the turbo act up due to some type of glitch. I have no rattles, screetches, or loss of power.

Have any of fhe turbos failed after doing the wastegate mod?

As of right now I think it might be an issue with my big tunes. I am working with spartan to see if we can work this out and find the issue
