What happened to my piston???? pics inside

Pretty thin.

I wonder if they try and keep it thin for the piston cooling jet to help pull heat away from the piston

You had a really build before this...nothing too outrageous, but good, reliable HP (at least I would have thought reliable). What do you think caused it....poor piston design??? Is there anything that can done to prevent it without swapping pistons?

Yeah I don't see a fix for that unless ih pistons are different (which I think they are thicker in the bowl area.

I feel like the injector stuck open. I was not racing and had not ran it hard in weeks.

I thought so too, but the reason for the last build was my stupidity. I ran it long and hard egt's were really high and may have weakened the pistons. They looked good during the last build, but I have put about 12-13k miles since then also.

If it all works out its gonna be a little more serious this time :evil

is there scoring on the counterbalance on the crank, in that cylinder???

I just poured water down the piston (in the hole for cooling jet) and realized there is a cavity all the way under the bowl for cooling. You guys may have already known that but I just learned something...lol.

JJ, its not ovaled bad enough for me to see it without measuring it.

sorry man havent had a chance to inspect it really good yet. I didn't see any but I need to clean it and really go over it.
