What would cause this?

So smelt some plastic burning and opened the hood and found this. The wire is going to fuel water separator.

The fuse still looks like its brand new.

I would guess arcing between the ring terminal and the copper. Think about the difference in heat between having an arc and being stuck to the steel while welding.

Is that the only portion of wiring that is chaffed through?
If I had to guess I'd say its grounding somewhere further down the line, but before the fuse.

That appears to be the only part that's chaffed. Its a pretty short wire so maybe it was touching battery box to get grounded...not sure.

Think since fuse is fine, just replacing that wire i should be good to go?
