What year was the best 7.3?

I'm looking for a 99-03 7.3
What year was the most reliable and had the least problems?
Any knowledge you can share with me will be greatly appreciated

The newest one you can afford. They only got better with time.

Blowby says 2000 purely looking at a future HP goal (Forged vs PMR rods) but for 99% of the people out there the newer the truck, the more options, comfort and drivablity you get.

There was a pretty large interior change in 2001 which offered better seats, then again in 2002... The drivetrain and such were all the same for the most part until end of production it 2003.

But I think the 2003's offer everything you could get in a 7.3...

It all depends on what you want to do wih it. Keep it releitivly stock I would pick the 2003 if you plan on going with hybrid injectors and running aggressive tunes I would go with a forged rod motor which is in the obs trucks and 99 and 2000 sd

Every engine has problems the problems wih the 6.0 can be fixed with a little money, 7.3 have problems too as does every motor ever made

I would have no issue driving a 6.0... But it would need to have about 3-4k dropped in it right away for studs and deletes...

When the 6.0 works its a good little motor.

Again... Anyone saying a Forged rod motor is thinking purely HP...

If your looking for HP above 375-425, more then likely your going to pull the motor anyway, so pick up a set of Forged rods at that time for a few hundred bucks and be done with it...
