Alright guys, I've searched and couldn't find anything so I'm asking for your thoughts. I'm wanting to get a remote start/alarm for my truck this week. I've looked at viper, avital, clifford. I liked the vipers 1 mile range but everything else seemed the same. What have y'all used and what are the pros and cons? Any other brand I should look at. Thanks

I have always been told to stay away from the snake names with alarms. Good systems but to touchy and you always wind up with dead batteries. The Clifford system is really nice and with the money and I have also ran auto page.

No problems with prestige. Most issues you have are when the systems are hacked in. No solder, no crimps, just twisted wires and black tape... Thats when you get issues

I'm gonna look at the Clifford system a lil more today as well as the code and prestige. Gonna try and have one by the end of next week. I'm tired of have to get up early and walk in 20 deg weather to let it warm up lol

Clifford and viper are both good alarms. I ran an autopage at one point it wasn't bad but I like my viper better

I had a Viper installed on my 08. The two way paging remote broke within 6 months. Well the remote still worked but the screen was worthless. And it went through a battery a month at least. Everytime I drove past the airport(which was almost daily) I would get interference and the light on the window would start blinking and my remote would start beeping.

I installed a Code alarm in my 05 in February right after I bought it. I have changed the battery in the remote once. NO other issues. Cost me $200 less and came with a spare remote. Now some of that saving came from me doing it myself, but I wouldn't go back to a Viper after all the trouble I had before.

I think I'm getting a price on the Clifford 5904x. Also looking at the prestige aps997c. Do they really have a 1 mile range or is that pushing it. Also that Clifford piece doesn't take battery's. It has a mini USB charging port. Any problems with that?

That 1 mile is if there is nothing between you and the truck. Its overkill to me.

Get the viper or Clifford and add the remote access. I can unlock/ Lockhart etc my truck from anywhere as long as my phone has service.
