Instead of the .50 mod on the UVCH, I just put a dab of epoxy on each corner of the UVCH. If I ever have to replace them, I can cut the epoxy with a Dremel.

OR.... just put in a quarter that is removable so you can test the harness so you don't HAVE to replace it.

Sorry, but that's just a bad idea.

Awesome, that's a list I can sink my teeth into.

I'm assuming a fuel bowl delete is not for me since I live in the cold cleveland area?

What's this mean: "INJECTOR CUPS, so you can use ELC!!!"

Thanks!

The E-99 and earlier motors had a sealant for the cups that ELC will break down....causing leaks. The L99-03 ones don't have that problem.

What he said^^^^.

ELC - extended life coolant (usually red in color - not that color is a good way to determine coolant type...). The factory coolant requires SCA's -supplemental coolant additives. These must be monitored and maintained, then the system must be thoroughly flushed and coolant changed on a routine basis. Even then, the SCA's tend to 'fall out' and form a sand-like substance that can erode cooling system parts and cause short waterpump life among other problems. By switching to ELC, you no longer need to add/monitor SCA's and coolant-change intervals are between 350,000 and 500,000 miles. I've been using CAT ELC and get it pre-mixed for around $10/gal - so this 'mod' is a real time and money saver in the long run. Cups are about $100/set and are easy to swap with the engine out!

As I think about it........ I probably have everything you need to go to a late-'99 turbo set-up if you are interested. Exhaust manifold, stock uppies, EBPV-deleted pedestal, plenums and even a van turbo. :naughty:

Can anyone comment on the benefits/drawbacks of doing this swap?

OK, this is my list, sure to be updated, certain to be incomplete. Aiming for a $1000 budget.

O-rings - all of em - $65
up pipe gaskets - $10
gauges- trans, boost, and pyro ~$500
LPOP - $80
trans cooler - 100
50 cent mod- $0.50
fuel tank mods- free!
paint, sanding, and polishing supplies- $50
injector cups/o-rings - $200
TOTAL= around 1000

From here I would still be able to do things like new lines/hoses and random gaskets I run into.

Edit- forgot to mention that once its all done it will get PHP tunes hopefully. I want to get it dialed in before adding that to the mix
