There is no reason a 5r couldn't successfully run 2nd gear start. After that they run a very similar gear ratio to a 48re. It would require a little different gearing setup. They weekend warrior 3.55 or 3.73 truck on 35's would not be able to gain anything from second gear start. On a truck that really wants to go fast it would definitely be a good starting point to make a 5r quicker.

It can't be done through tuning is the main issue.

yeah I had my race truck set up like that but I never made it to the track to try it. At first I couldn't do it with H&S because the tables wouldn't allow for a negative value. I thought it actually drove really well on the street as well. Loaded the turbos better ect just crusing around.

That is their opinion. But it's very much capable of it. When I get my crew cab back running next month I would be glad to prove it.

If you guys can help guide me to a 2nd gear start tune I'd appreciate it. Keep in mind this is for a 6leaker.

All it take is to change the 1-2 up shift value to 0mph. Then change the 2-1 downshift value to 0 as well. You put it in gear and roll forward it will go to 2nd and then never go lower.

At least that's what it does for me.

When the injectors come back I'm just going to put the lever in 2 and see how it launches. If I like it I'll look further into it. Might be time for some elite or ********** tunes.

I have a lockup switch. I just want to see how it moves out the first 20 or 30ft anyway. I feel like this should work but at the same time wouldn't jesse warren and Jaran holder be doing it already?

ah 10-4. It will likely come down to calculating gearing and tire size to achieve what you want.

A 5r in 2nd with 30 inch tires and a 3.73 identical to a 48re with 33.108" and a 3.73 in first.
