I don't imagine it could, barring incorrect installation, even then, only thing I know it could screw up would be the PCM itself.
Again, I'm no pro, this is just speculation.

What year model is his truck? If it is a 2002 or newer, your PCM will not work in his.
Send it to Tony to get burned for his truck. He will still be into it for less money than a new chip.

Yea it was a 2000 f350 and I went and installed it for him, works just fine it was the exact problem tomang said, it had to be taped in otherwise it just would connect he even gave me an extra 50$ that I tried to refuse for putting it in, thanks for all the help/info guys. I appreciate it
