Would you swap from a 6.4 again?

Thinking about selling my 08 6.4 and going with a new '15 6.7, if you have made that swap would you do it over again? I know the truck is much nicer but worried I'll miss the power from my 6.4. How does the power compare between the two, and the new trannys holding up to the power. Can the original dashdaq that I'm using now be used to tune a '15 or can Spartan tune the '15? How does the tuned shifting compare to the 6.4, are traction bars needed to tone down the shifting?

Spartan doesn't tune the 2015. You're gonna need a sctx4 with innovation tuning, and a straight pipe. As for power to power, my 2015 lariat ran a 12.9 with a tune, intake, am exhaust and piping. I was gonna do a nitrous run but ended up not doing one. The 2015 6.7s are really nice and I like it more than my 6.4.

The only complaint is that the 2015 transmissions took a step back from the 2011-2014 transmissions as it has fewer clutch packs than the 2011-2014 6.7 transmissions. This in turn has made me lose my transmission, and now I'm sporting a 2012 transmission out of a service truck.

I'm thinking about going back to a 6.4 just for that very reason. I hate the transmission in my tuned 13.

Power wise no comparison. I know mine's not a 15, but mine on the race tune can't even hang with my dad's 6.4 running spartans 210 tune. And he's running a crew cab long bed dually. When he throws in the 300 I watch him pass me smoking the duals.. Lol but mpg, interior, comfort wise You will like the 6.7

I haven't had a 6.4 but my 15 will hang with my buddies 6.4 with mods on his high tune. I am at 25xxx miles. Atleast 7k on race tune now. No trans issue. Holds strong. I do need traction bars though. After riding in his 6.4 to my 6.7. I personally love the 6.7, but my opinion may be swayed.. I say do it!

When the Trans goes. Beef it back up with more clutches. Problem solved lol.

My wife drives my 08 now so I get to jump in it now and then. Even though the truck is perfect with only 65k miles it really seems old and dated compared to the 15.

My 15 is stock so there is no comparison in power but I will say even after driving my 6.4 for 5 years I am very content with the stock 6.7 Its smooth and quite. Tows amazing. And nothing to worried about is the big thing right now. I am sure I will delete/tune it when the tunes are a little more refined. No hurry for that though.

I don't think there is anyway you would not like the newer set up.

Any difference in the 15 and 16 as far as tuning? Will the dashdaq work with either just for monitoring?

I do miss the power of my 6.4. 2grand in tuner and delete, bam runs like he!!, nothing else needed. Now with the 6.7, 2 grand in deletes, 3-4 grand in turbo, 2-3 grand in fuel............plus the labor............and then after you have spent almost 10 grand, wait for the tranny to kill over and dump another 7 or so in it.

A 15 would already have the fuel and turbo needed, I think the transit hit or miss or possibly the tuning. Mine squalled into 5th with pip extreme but never missed a beat on idp race tune. And idp tune was faster and much stronger

I had an '08 6.4 and now have a '15 6.7. I should of never sold my 6.4 and every time I hook up to a trailer I regret it even more. My 6.7 has towed like **** compared to my 6.4. Even stock it was always hot, I'd see 248* EOT when it was stock and the temp gauge would climb. Like I said I regret selling my '08 and I wish I could buy it back.

My 6.7 does the same thing both pre and post-deleted on a mild tow tune. Really disappointing after my 7.3 truck which I could have on the floorboard for an hour straight and it wouldn't flinch.

I considered the 6.4 but all the horror stories made me go 6.7. If I didn't depend on my truck to haul race cars and make it to the race on time I'd have got a 6.4, but I was going for reliable.

The power and trans of the 6.7 is nice. Looks great, too!

Edit: We have big ass mountains out here, not flat like the midwest so we're pulling heavy loads up a steep grade for 30-60 minutes straight. On flat ground its no issue.

I wouldn't be worried about the oil temps. They're designed to run hot. Should hurt anything if you run quality oil.

I don't worry about the oil temp anymore after all I've read, I guess my bigger concern is coolant temp. I usually let off around 224-226* no one has ever given me a solid number on the coolant temp you can run these things to.

Somewhere down in Texas..
Deletes and nitrous...and it being a 2015 is what made you lose your transmission, because Ford used fewer clutch packs in that production year. Seems legit.

I figure this, if the truck is stock, run its wheels off. I'm sure ford de fuels the truck when needed.

It's not stock and I didn't have a CTS on it when it was stock to see what temp ford defuels at.
