Today I was dropping my zf5 for a new clutch. As soon as I dropped the cross member the transmission mount fell off (see pic). Where the bolts thread into
The housing on the gear box is the issue. It has completely broken off.

Not sure if this is common on a zf5 or not. Would it be able to be welded by a skilled welder?

The truck has always had a vibration around 2500 rpm.. now I know why. You can see from the broken piece that the break is not new from the grime / dirt,

You could try having it welded. May just have to swap the case.
The vibration is likely what caused the break.

Got it back together today with a new valiar single disk clutch. Literally drives like a new truck now. No more driveline vibration whatsoever.

Your old clutch or flywheel had run out or imbalance. I’ve seen this cause broken trans cases and many other odd broken things such as mounting brackets.

That’s my theory on why it happened. Since the day I bought the truck it had a vibration at 2500 rpm idling or driving.
