Btw I'm not trying to argue, I'm just trying to learn here and sharing what I've been told.

We're good man, I knew you weren't. I'm in the same boat. I spent a lot of time researching ratios and doing cost/benefit on changing gears or doing a GV or both in the OBS. If I had kept it I would have done 3:55's and ZF6 as I had decided it was the most practical, cost effective and beneficial course for my use.

I am no expert but I do know there are 2 ZF5's (I have some of each) The
ZF542 is 420 ft lbs capacity and has a higher first gear even in the diesel version. I call this the street ZF5. The ZF547 has 470 ft lbs capacity and a lower first (take off in second pretty easy, even with 3.55's and 33's) Don't have the ratio info handy, but driving the trucks in town and hauling you can tell the difference.
