38r doesnt surge and will lower your egts. It'll also gain you at least 50hp. Sounds bada$$ too. Even with stock sticks.

It won't gain you 50 horsepower on stock injectors.

Just upgrade to the correct compressor intake and don't downgrade your wheel.

The OBS wheel is not as agressive as the SD wheel.

Who really cares. I would really like to see a back to back dyno comparison between the two.

You'll loose more than that if it stops surging. =)

To each his own.
WW is a bandaid, not a fix.

It is a fix. So what if it also happens to be cheap.

... More BS...

It moves SLIGHTLY less air at A PARTICULAR part of the map. Its a good fix for light surge issues in 99% of trucks out there.

While it should not be marketed as a performance upgrade, doing one for $100 bucks is alot cheaper then a ported housing for $400.

Stop posting stupid crap...

You sure the tips were broken? They might have some clipping on them in stock form. I have a couple stockers including the one I just took off laying around Im gonna look cuz I think the stock wheel is clipped.

Ya, I am pretty sure. On one fin you could plainly see that the tip was broken off because you could see the raw material of the fin. On a couple others the tips were what looks to be bent. I don't know what went through the turbo or when, but I'm sure something did.

I'll take a pic when I get it out.

Not what I was told. Especially if you are already running a tuner. Picks up 90hp on a truck with tuning over stock. Petersens 4wheel did an article with a lifted superduty that had the stock charger and they simply put a 38r in and gained 60hp w/o changing anything else.

Id say it does. My 140hp tunes only haze slightly from a stab vs belching smoke with the stock charger.

Hey buddy, I just went and looked at my stock wheels and they indeed are NOT clipped. SO your assessment was correct.

As I mentioned before, I am not sure why they would break. And since I am not sure why they broke, I am also not sure how they broke. I am not sure how long it has been like that, but no damage has been noticed yet. It has no codes, all injectors work fine, compression is good, etc.

Ittl be interesting to c what happened to UR compressor wheel to cause that. I've seen some dusted wheels before but never that

Ya, it's very odd. My dad has been a diesel mechanic for 20+ years and he said he has seen a few of them like that, and was never able to figure out why or even what happened. As soon as I get my WW I will post a pic of the old wheel.

Perhaps a small rock slipped past the air filter? IT'd have to be something pretty darn hard.

You were told wrong. You can do about the best of around 340 hp on stock injectors and stock turbo. The same will go for stock injectors and a 38r. You run out of fuel way before you need more air with stock injectors. Sure a 38r will have cooler egts and all around run better, but it will not gain you 60-90 hp on stock sticks.

Is there play in the shaft. If so maybe the compressor wheel hit the housing. I would check that before I put a new wheel in a spent turbo

Surge can cause enough shock to the wheel to cause the tips to break or wear down. Dont worry about it, just replace it and move on...
