Not really sure how anyone can't wrap their head around 15psi at 1500rpm being a good thing. Not that you should tow at 1500 but it proves the turbo can move some air (enough to clean the fuel up) at lower rpms and get things spooling and rpm climbing without looking like a 15 year old kid with...

Does he still have his? For a while it sounded like he was going to be the next savior for 7.3 performance. I haven't heard much about his truck lately.

I left the stock plenums in. I did make a boost leak detector when I had the r to make sure there was no leaks. That's why I say if you guys have her figured out I'd love to see it. Even if I tried and couldn't get it I'd be damn interested and happy as hell for you if a few of you did. I was...

The fact that the 38r can make 500+hp has zero to do with what's being discussed with the sxe. I don't think you will see one post in this thread questioning it. Mine did 525 with it. What is in question is the low rpm towing ability without egt's. Again, I ask this without any kind of...

Matt live tuned mine with the 38r. Also tried Jonathan tunes and two different injector builders. I'm still saying is the best you've ever experienced is only the best you've ever drove. Until one of the 38r flag wavers hops in a sxe equipped truck or tries one on their own trucks I'm not...

Ty, all I'm saying is that with everyone I've talked to whose made the change all of the issues (mainly with egt's and towing) have been cleared up. Not by a nozzle swap, not by tuning, not by leaky turbo systems. I went the 38r route because I wanted a 500hp+ truck that was fun to drive and...

Like I said earlier shoot us a link to the video you say you posted 4 years ago where your 38r truck would hold 20 psi continually at 2000rpm while towing at a reasonable egt and everyone will buy into how great you have a 38r tuned. Until then then I'm saying my new 366sxe dominates a 38r in...

I still have a 1.15 exhaust housing for the 38r if anyone with bigger injectors wants to give a try. I remember Charles saying he liked the turbo a lot better that way

I wasn't comfortable holding mine for long runs hotter than 1250. I do also have 373's with 35" tires and the 35' 5th wheel I pull is like a sail boat for wind. On the interstate I'd always be around 1900-2000 rpm . In that window of rpm the egt gauge was stuck 1250-1300 all the time. With the...

Yeah the stock wheel spooled the easiest. The 6x6 wheel was definitely quieter and felt like it had still a little more mid and top end than stock. If you compare the pitch of the impeller blades on the different wheels you can certainly see the pitch is more aggressive. Most of this is thrown...

If you really want to convince us how great your 38r setup is hook to a heavy trailer find yourself a soft incline and take a video of your truck at 20psi @ 2k rpm with egt's. Do it so it has to sustain that to hold your speed. I don't like to shift in and out of od every small incline I get...

What he said. I tried them all. The standard ww is hot n smokey...better off with the billet 6x6 and even that was probably just an improvement on noise not really much performance

Totally agree. If someone is happy with a 38r they are happy with average...nothing wrong with that. As soon as you tow or even drive around an sxe equipped truck you are ready to fire the 38r in the garbage can, or at least I was. Keep in mind this was all done with just a turbo change not even...

I get around 42 psi on my hot tune and this is with ported heads and cam so less intake restriction. About 1400 degrees on a run up to 100mph with a haze 230/80's with 366sxe .92 housing. 38r was 38 psi and would pin 1600 degrees by second gear lol...good riddens

What injector to match a 6.7

Don't ever drive a 6.7 then. It was that, that made me rethink my whole setup. Remember when someone tells you their truck is dialed they only know the best they've ever drivin. When I here poeple talk about how their tuner has some how made a 38r with monster injectors great I just laugh now...

What injector to match a 6.7

Your right. My 38r 250/100 setup would smoke my father in laws 14 in a drag race, it's just that it got its butt kicked that much the other way when it came to towing a big trailer up a 2 mile long grade. With the sxe that's not the case anymore. 20 psi sustained at 1800rpm without egt problems...

What injector to match a 6.7

Yes sir. The truck pulled decent as long as the rpm was over 2k with that setup. When I bought a 35' toy hauler and brought it on long trips with the family the noise in the cab being locked out of od was horrible. You could be in od as long as you were going 75+. The problem was the 55mph 2...

What injector to match a 6.7

Mine is a SD with a full sound deadoned cab...even went as far as ordering am carpet with sound barrier built in. My truck was still crazy loud with the old injectors and 38r. With the pis and sxe it's unreal quit in comparison till it gets to 20psi...then it's a nice whistle. Obviously not...
