Forged or not they look to be a pretty small rod. I dont think this motor failed catastrophically just due to the level of power the truck is at... I bet there is a little gremlin somewhere. Either way, I dont think its anywhere near as stout as a 6.4.

I've been hearing rumors of poor crank harmonics for sometime.

Really? I havent heard that. Thats gonna suck for lifespan of the motor. As well as making any kind of power or rpms later...

Yeah. I was trying to remember who i talked to about it.... regardless, they lost the crank on a low mileage engine with twins and a tune. 500-525hp ballpark

I see some slight piston to valve contact there..... Does the piston in the bottom picture have carbon buildup in it or is it just the shot?

The bowl is so big it's kinda hard to see any injection timing trails

I have a buddy who is Spartan tuned saying his truck tune only is doing 525. I would wager a guess at something other than just straight power caused this failure. I will be following this closely as our shop develops some stuff.

Hmmmmm....glad I decided to keep the 6.4 and build it! I sure hope this is a fluke, I really wanted a 6.7 dually in the next few years.
