{And I've noticed I can set duty cycle to a certain percentage. What is the point of that?}

You can prove to yourself that the IPR is making a difference to ICP. When you command this, watch ICP, it should change according to the change in IPR.

If idling at 30% IPR and 580 PSI ICP, change to 40%, you should see increase in ICP and you will notice change in idle smoothness. You can also drop IPR and shut the truck off.

Thank you sir. That clears it up quite well.

Ok, on the 03, on a cold start IPR was right about 30% at idle, so we are good there. And ICP was like 600ish.

As I said I just didn't know how the percentages related to what was actually going on.

Another AE trick that may help you......On the 03s and early 04s, you can command Engine RPM to 500 RPM from the live data meter page, then go to on board test page and run power balance. (Sometimes shows injector problems better than high load). The 04.25s and up won't hold the idle command once the test starts, so it isn't much good on them. (I've asked AE to fix, they blame it on Ford). The 6.4's brought back the ability to give commands while testing.

One day, maybe we'll have an AE tips and tricks forum.

That would be nice, especially for someone like myself just starting out using AE.

Here's one...why won't AE let you command rpms any higher than 1150? It gives you the option to go higher, but the truck won't do it. Is that an AE issue, or a Ford issue?

I haven't asked them about that one, but all 6.0s are limited there.

The AE engineer who deals with our trucks is Jay Horak. Email him at [email protected] if you have any questions. They communicate very fast and are more helpful than you would think......Only caution, he is a very smart guy and doesn't like to have his software put down!! Very helpful though.

I have no negative issues with the software. I think it's great for what it is.

Ok update on the 03. Cycling the key a few times doesn't help on cold start. It still fires pretty quick, then goes dead. Does that a couple times then it'll fire and run. Sometimes giving it a little throttle will make it run after the first time it fires.

05 update... Swapped #5 and 7 injector plugs and did buzz test. #5 still wouldn't click. 7 always clicks so I know the wiring to it is good. Confirms my injectors are th problem, which I had a feeling it was to start. But that's fine, 155's will be going in very soon!

I still haven't completely ruled out a fuel issue. It's almost like as soon as it fires its low of fuel. Key off, then back builds pressure back up it'll fire again. Sometimes it'll run, others it goes dead. I've checked pressure with KOEO, but I haven't checked while cranking. I need to do that I guess to verify.
